When I was about 12 years old, I stumbled upon a book called “The Nature Of Personal Reality” by Jane Roberts. It was in a series of books commonly referred to today as the “Seth” books. I am pretty sure I got it from my brother-in-law, and I know that I became enthralled by the words of each chapter. It was so different than anything I had read, or even thought, before. It was a channeled book, meaning that it was dictated by a person in an altered state, referred to as a “trance,” and originated from spirits from another reality. Somehow, I accepted all of this without question and read and read the material every day. Looking back, I know this book, and others like it, have shaped my beliefs and experiences up to this day. The basic message of the material in the Seth Books was the Law of Attraction. Although it wasn’t called Law of Attraction back then, the books suggested that you create your own reality through your thoughts and beliefs. I read about how what you think and what you dwell upon affects the unfolding of your life in a very real and literal way. I started seeing my life differently, and my attitudes and behaviors changed accordingly. I started paying attention to what I thought, and I really noticed the results of my thinking in terms of the unfolding of my life before me.

One of the phrases that stuck with me from the Seth books was the phrase “Your point of power is in the present.” The clear message was that you can look ahead and predict things, or you can look behind and remember things, but you always do it from the present. But more than that, I read that past and future can change based on your focus in the present. The message that I came to understand was that you can have anything you want, and that time is an illusion. If you decide that you want to be an actor, for example, you can be an actor…as long as you give it your full focus and connected attention. Once you do, your past begins to change to justify the new condition. Your new focus of acting activates memories and feelings that you “forgot” in your past. Your new “past” will seem to add up to your present, and you will feel a powerful reason to live fully in the reality of “actor.” And at the same time, your future will realign to reflect your new path as well. You will point to new experiences and manifestations in your imagined future that will match your present point of focus.

So if my point of power is always in the present, then I can really be, do, or have anything that I give my full attention to. There is nothing that is off limits to me because I can change my past and future to equal my highest view and desire of my present. To me now, and even when I was a 12-years-old, this seems like the ultimate in freedom and expansion; there is no place I can’t get to from where I am, so I can relax and accept where I am at any point on my journey. There is nothing I did in the past that can limit where I want to be in my present. My power was completely invested in the HERE and NOW! I came to be empowered and inspired…and so can you. Today, just feel the freedom of your present moment. Know that you are unlimited in your ability to attract and allow your most thrilling desires to manifest into your life. Love the feeling of freedom. Live in your point of power. Enjoy this most amazing day!  Chris-GP

Absolutely Patrick! I have always felt that these great teachers are not caught up in the dogma of religion or anything like that…so they can just say it how they believe it to be. And yet, they don’t put down others for their unique perspective. Thanks so much for the comment. CHRIS

Great post! I’m reading the aforementioned book for the second time and I have no better words to describe how this book and Abraham’s teachings in “Ask and Its given” have helped me have a more meaningful way of living my life. These books are life transforming for a person who loves to know more about themselves and to create whatever they want to be do or have intentionally as opposed to creating by default. Seth and Abraham are the greatest teachers and I would recommend their teachings to all those who desire rediscover how miraculous we human beings are as a part of All-that-Is.

  5. This reminds me of the joke, where the person has surgery, wakes up after the surgery and asks the doctor “Doctor, will I be able to play the violin?” to which the doctor says “Of course!!!” And the patient says “Good! Because I couldn’t before!!” Yock-Yock-Yock.
